How the sum works
No magic, just an order of operations almost everyone gets wrong once.
VAT comes out of the revenue; it isn't added to the costs.
The price shown on Amazon includes VAT: that share was never yours, you remit it. Margin is worked out on what's left. Comparing a gross selling price against a net cost hands you a 20% profit that doesn't exist: the commonest mistake, and the reason for the tick box above.
Amazon's fee is charged on the gross price.
On the full price, not the net one, so it's larger than it looks. The Digital Services Tax then applies to the fee, not to the sale.
Shipping is your cost even when the buyer pays for it.
If the buyer pays €6.90 for shipping and it costs you €9, that gap comes out of your margin. It bites hardest on cross-border orders, where the real cost is almost always a surprise.
